I know I’m obsessed with this subject, but it’s almost everyday when I read something on social media about announcers. I just don’t get it. The biggest whipping boy is Joe Buck, but lately it seems to be Dennis Eckersley. Really? I think he does a great job as he fills in occasionally for Jerry Remy. I think he is better than Remy as he actually has insight whereas Jerry will merely repeat what the play by play guy just said. Don’t get me wrong, I like Jerry and I really enjoy him as he has a great personality. I think Eck has a great personalty too. A member of the media is more qualified to determine how good a member of the media is than a person in the general public. Sorry it’s just the way it is. I think a pilot knows more about flying a plane or a brain surgeon knows more on what he does for a living than I do. Why is it so different when it comes to announcing? I don’t get it and I guess I never will.
