Does it worry anybody that JD Martinez hasn’t passed his physical yet? I would be except the Red Sox’ beat writers are saying there is nothing to be worried about. At least not yet!
I am thrilled that Amanda Pelkey of Montpelier won a gold medal in womens hockey. Remember her cousin Ashley Pelkey of Barre had a nice career on the Castleton womens hockey team. Ashley was a team captain last year and graduated in 2017.
Yesterday was also the 38th anniversary of the US “Miracle On Ice” victory over Russia at Lake Placid. People forget that it was not the gold medal game as the US had to defeat Finland two days later to clinch the gold! I have always contended that if the US didn’t close the deal, the victory over Russia would be merely a footnote in history. I always felt that would’ve been the case for the 2004 Red Sox too if they didn’t go on to beat the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series after coming back to beat the Yankees in the ALCS. I didn’t feel that way in 1967 however when the Red Sox lost to St. Louis in the World Series after winning the American League pennant. It was just different that year and it was magical and only Red Sox fans of my generation would understand.
I predict that Mt. Anthony will win another state championship in high school wrestling. Yes the Patriots will win their 30th straight state championship!
