Boy’s Hoops: Green Knights Go to 17-1 With 60-49 Win Over Burlington

SOUTH BURLINGTON — The Rice Memorial High School Green Knights built as much as an 18 point lead and cruised to their 16th straight win, a 60-49 win over the Burlington High Seahorses in Northfield Savings Bank Rivalry Series action on Thursday night on Bernie Cieplicki Court.

After a low scoring 8-2 Rice first quarter, the Knights awakened to build a nine point lead at 26-17 at halftime and then built the lead to as many as 18 early in the fourth quarter before cruising home to the win.

Junior Kam Farris led Rice with 19 points, while freshman sensation Michel Ndayishimiyeg added 17 and sophomore Leo Chaiken contributed 11.

Kevin Garrison sank five three pointers in leading the Seahorses with 19. Haji Haji added 13 and Jenson Daly finished with 10.

With the win the VPA second ranked Green Knights improved their record to 17-1. BHS slipped to 9-9.
