Mike Trout of the Angels won the MVP with Mookie Betts of the Red Sox the runner-up and Houston’s Jose Altuve finishing 3rd. I think Trout deserved it as well as any of the three, but I think this again is an example of the Player of the Year actually winning the MVP. I have always believed that they are two different things and therefore should be two different awards even though the same guy could win both.

I think Trout is the Player of the Year and technically Betts is the MVP, but again under the way the criteria is now Trout is the MVP and deservedly so. I would trade Betts for Trout in a second by the way.
