George Commo’s Blog – Thursday Night 11/17/16

One out of two … not bad.

Mookie Betts had to settle for second place tonight as Mike Trout was named the winner of the 2016 American League Most Valuable Player Award. So the Red Sox do not get the Daily Double … they have to settle for Rick Porcello’s Cy Young announced on Wednesday. Still for Sox fans hoping for something to get exited about after back to back last place finishes in the American League East a Division title, a Cy young and a MVP runner up add up to a pretty good season in my book. Can’t wait until they head down to Fort Myers.

Meanwhile here in Burlington the UVM Soccer Cats are suddenly the talk of the town. They are a very good team and they will get to show at least one more time. UVM topped Rider 4-1 tonight before over 2,000 fans at Virtue Field. Brian Wright … maybe the least publicized college superstar we have ever had here at UVM … scored three of the Vermont goals and assisted on the other one as the Cats advanced to take on 12th seeded Virginia in the second round on Sunday in Charlottesville.
