As I said yesterday….you can paint the Division 1 boys basketball state championship Raider Red!!!

Rutland winning its first state title in 50 years plus 2 days at the Patrick Gym.

It  was a long time in coming and it seemed that just about everybody from Rutland was there including a few members of that 1967 team!!!

Matt Lorman led the way with 18 points. Matt’s great grandfather was a member of Rutland High’s state championship team in 1933.

Kyle Cassarino  was 4-4 from the free throw line all in overtime. Nothing new for Kyle as he was the Elks Hoop Shoot champion in both the 3rd and 5th grade.

First state champion from  the south in Division 1 basketball since MSJ won the 1999 state title. That team was coached by Leon Wood. Leon is the dad of Rutland coach Mike Wood!

The wait is over! The Raiders are state champs!
