It’s an exciting time of the year! Congratulations to the Proctor Phantoms as they took home their 17th state championship in boys basketball after defeating Twinfield in the Division 4 state championship on Saturday in Barre. The Phantoms getting the Three-peat! That’s an astounding 63 team state championships for Proctor now.
Congratulations to a gutty MSJ boys basketball team who came up a little bit short in the Division 2 state championship game. MSJ came within an eyelash of knocking off undefeated Enosburg.
Congratulations to Williamstown in Division 3 and congratulations to UVM as the Catamounts move on to the NCAA Tournament!
Tonight it’s the long anticipated Division 1 boys basketball state championship game between CVU and Rutland.
Rutland is looking for its first state title since 1967 and 7th overall and CVU is looking for its first state championship in its first trip to the title game. The pressure is on both teams. In the Rutland area the media is well aware that the previous 50 years have nothing to do with this year. It still has to be mentioned! It’s about historic perspective!
This year’s Cubs had nothing to do with all the years since 1908. The same goes for Yale and Army football or the Cleveland Cavaliers. It’s part of the history, nothing more nothing less!
Speaking of history. I say it will be made tonight at the UVM Patrick Gym. You can paint this year’s Division 1 state champion Raider Red!!!!
