Another Lake Monsters Season in the Books – by George Commo

The Vermont Lake Monsters wrapped up the 2016 season Monday afternoon, rallying with five runs in the bottom of the 8th inning to beat the Lowell Spinners 9-5 at Centennial Field.  So ends a disappointing season … 28 wins and 48 loses for the Oakland A’s NY Penn League affiliate. Much more was expected from a team loaded with high June draft picks. But one thing we have learned over the years is what happens to individual players in short season A-ball rarely translates into their baseball future. Some players make it … many more do not. But every season a new crop of prospects arrives to take their shot. And the fans come out to the great old ballpark on Colchester Avenue … 84, 025 this season to watch the show.

I’m looking forward to next June already.
