The Patriots are 4-2 and have given up over 300 yards passing to every quarterback they have faced this year. That includes Josh McCown. Josh McCown? You have to be kidding me. I shutter to think what Matt Ryan is going to do to that defense. On the other hand Atlanta has already lost to Buffalo and Miami at home. I’m inclined to go with the Patriots in that game even though Ryan could really light them up and he will have revenge on his mind. Atlanta could win the game 200-0 and it won’t make up for the Super Bowl and everybody knows it.

I have now seen the “fumble” non touchdown play about a million times and I agree with the people who think the Jets got screwed. I still don’t see how that could be ruled a fumble out of bounds in the end zone. I get the “tuck rule” overturn many years ago because in that one the call was exactly what the rule said, but in this one I still don’t get it. Again though if the touchdown call stood there was no guarantee that the Jets would’ve won the game.

I get why there are still protests of the National Anthem by NFL players and I support their right to protest, but I still think it is disrespect to the flag and the Anthem and everything it stands for regardless of the reasons for protesting. That being said it doesn’t bother me and I will continue to watch games and I won’t boycott because I enjoy watching the games. I still think that people who are boycotting NFL football games aren’t real big fans in the first place. I think there are exceptions as I talked to a fan [who is a big Patriot] fan yesterday who is boycotting, but in my opinion those fans are in a minority. If ratings are down there are more reasons than the just players kneeling as far as I’m concerned.

I went a dismal 5-9 in the NFL picks this week and I now stand at 49-42. My dismal record has something to do with the competitive balance in the NFL and the parity. You never know what’s going to happen from one week to the next. The Steelers lose to the Bengals and beat the Chiefs and the Giants get their first win of the year at Denver. Go figure! If you are boycotting the games you are missing out on some great entertainment!
