Vermont Sports Hall of Fame Announces Its Class of 2018

COLCHESTER — Olympians, basketball stars, an auto racing legend, football and ice hockey record-setters, coaching greats and a chronicler of Green Mountain sports are the 11 newest members of the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame. The VSHOF Board of Directors announced its sixth class of inductees on February, 6, 2018 at the Tarrant Center on the campus of Saint Michael’s College.

The inductees include: four-time Olympic cross country skier Tim Caldwell; stock car driver Robbie Crouch; World Cup mogul ski champion Hilary Engisch Klein; legendary St. Johnsbury Academy track & field coach Ray Frey; collegiate and high school basketball standouts Matt Johnson, Larry Killick and Jen Niebling; longtime Essex High coach/athletic directorMelba Masse, a pioneer of girls sports in the state; University of Vermont football great Bobby Mitchell; sportswriterDavid Morse; and UVM/NHL hockey great Martin St. Louis.

The sixth Hall of Fame Class will be formally inducted on April 21, 2018 at the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame Induction Dinner and Celebration to be held at Trader Duke’s Hotel in South Burlington. The presenting sponsor of the annual event is Casella Resource Systems.

Ticket information for the 2018 induction and dinner will be available soon here on the VSHOF website. Proceeds from the event go to Prevent Child Abuse Vermont, the designated charity of the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame. The first five dinners and events have raised close to $15,000 to PCAV.
