Rutland’s Mike Triller WOW! …Jack Healey

You might not have heard yet because this happened not only south of the Middlebury-Dixon line, but it also happened south of the Mason-Dixon line.

Rutland’s Mike Triller a 5th year senior on the Clemson baseball team had an ACC Tournament to remember. He only had 25 at bats all season, but in the tournament Mike went 6-13 with two home-runs, three doubles, four RBI’s and five runs scored. That included 3-6 with a pair of doubles in the ACC championship game against Florida State. After all that Mike was named the tournament MVP. It was a story book weekend as Mike might now be the most famous athlete from Rutland since Andrea Mead Lawrence.

The catcher for Florida State was Cal Raleigh who is the son of Todd Raleigh of Swanton, Vermont. Todd is a former coach at Western Carolina and Tennessee and played college baseball at Western Carolina. One of his teammates was Kevin Bellomo who was Mike Triller’s coach at Rutland High and Rutland Post 31 baseball. The coach at Western Carolina was Jack Leggett of South Burlington who also coached at Clemson before he was fired last year. As a matter of fact Cal Raleigh was all set to go to Clemson until Leggett was let go.

In another bit of irony Clemson’s first opponent in the NCAA Regional is Western Carolina.

Oh yea, Leggett was a former University of Vermont baseball coach as well.

I love that stuff!

Well it’s Golden State vs. Cleveland in the NBA Finals as OKC let the Warriors off the hook after being up 3-1 in the Western Conference Finals. I say Golden State in 6.

I also say San Jose in 6 in the Stanley Cup Finals even though Pittsburgh has won game 1.
