Andrea became the first US alpine skier male or female to medal at the Winter Olympics winning gold in both the slalom and giant slalom at the Winter Olympics in Oslo in 1952. Andrea was the first inductee into the Vermont Skiing Hall of Fame in 2002 and was also inducted into the US Olympic Committee Hall of Fame. She was a member of the first Vermont Sports Hall of Fame class in 2012, she was on the cover of Time Magazine and was the #1 athlete in Sports Illustrated’s Top 50 Vermont athletes of the 20th century.
She passed away in 2009 at the age of 76.
