One of my pet peeves is when hosting a talk show on NSN or the radio station where I work is that for some reason listeners want instant gratification and expect you to talk about everything within the first five minutes. Hell give us a chance! The other thing is if you want to change the subject go ahead, but don’t criticize the subject being talked about. I will talk about whatever I want to talk about and nobody is going to tell me what to do. On Friday George and I were talking about the 1980 “Miracle On Ice”. Of course we were it was the 40th anniversary of the 1980 gold medal winning victory. Everybody was talking about it and it was a week long celebration and rightfully so. I was at the US-Finland game so I certainly had something to add.
It took me 40 years, but I finally remember why I didn’t see the medal ceremony after the US Olympic hockey victory. I always regretted not going to the ceremony and I really couldn’t remember why. I know I was feeling under the weather so maybe that is why or since I went with two other people maybe I didn’t have control of the transportation. I really didn’t remember until this week believe it or not. The reason is that the medal ceremony was hours later and not immediately after the US-Finland game. The Russia-Sweden game was played after the USA game and that’s the reason the medal ceremony was later. It’s funny, but I forgot all about that!
