Bob Ryan, Curt Schilling And Pete Rose

By Jack Healey
I love Bob Ryan who is semi-retired,but still writes columns for the Boston Globe. He’s one of the top 2 or 3 greatest sportswriters of all-time. Leave it to Bob to write in his latest column that basically nobody in New England really cared about the LSU-Clemson national championship game. Obviously there were people who cared, but not the same passion as other parts of the country if you know what I mean.
Anyway it was the LSU Tigers vs. the Clemson Tigers and Ryan said ” Jokes involving I pick the Tigers to win soon grew quite stale.” That is typical Bob Ryan. That did become stale after the first person said it on social media. It wasn’t that funny and it was more stupid commentary from the nitwits on social media.
I love you Bob Ryan you are great!
That doesn’t mean I agree with him all the time because Bob recently wrote that Curt Schilling will probably get into the Hall of Fame next year unless he says or writes something stupid.Really? Why should that make a difference? Even if Schilling says or writes a million stupid things in the next year it shouldn’t have anything to do with whether he’s a Hall of Famer or not. Why can’t the sportswriters get that? I really don’t care what athletes or actors have to say about politics anyway, but to keep somebody out of the Hall of Fame because you don’t agree with their point of view is absurd!
What the Houston Astros did is not worse than what Pete Rose did! It’s apple and oranges anyway, but you can’t bet on baseball! It’s still the ultimate sin!
