Boy’s Hoop: Rangers Surge Past Spartans 61-35

Winooski — The Lake Region Union Rangers erupted for 21 second quarter points and surged past the Winooski Spatans 61-35 in Divisioin Three boys basketball action on Tuesday night in the Winooski Gym.

Leading the Spartans by six, 17-11 after a quarter the Rangers outscored the home team 21-9 over the second eight minutes to build a 38-20 halftime lead and then eased home to the win.
Riley Urie led the winners with 15 points, all of them in the first half. Zach Royer added nine points, Austin Roberge chipped in eight, and Danny Epinette and Nate Charland contributed six for the winners.

Eddie Lamson led the Spartans with nine points and Sean Callahan added seven.
With the win, their seventh straight, the Rangers are now 8-1. The Spartans dropped their second in a row to slip to 7-2.
