HS Football: Big Plays Carry Lakers Past South Burlington 32-21

COLCHESTER — Quentin Hoskins and Bailey Olson each scored a pair of touchdowns and the Colchester Lakers picked up their first win of the 2017 season, on Friday night, topping the South Burlington Wolves 32-21  on the Laker Field.

Colchester used the big play to earn their victory, Hoskins scoring on touchdown runs of 67 and 53 yards, while Olson returned a kickoff 80 yards and turned a short swing pass into a 65 yard TD. CHS scored the game’s  final 18 points to pick up the win. After Olson’s 65 yard catch and run midway in the third quarter, Colchester got the lead for when Robbie Davis picked off a Wolves pass and returned it 25 yards for another Lakers score.

South Burlington scored on a 6 yard first quarter run by Robbie Mafuta, a 19 yard second quarter touchdown pass from Kevin Papariello to Andrew Cunningham, and an 11 yard third quarter run by Ryan Tarte. Tarte, who ran strong all night, gave SB a 21-14 lead, but they would not score again.

Now 1-1, Colchester travels to Milton next week while 1-1 South Burlington visits Burlington.
