High School Football: Hines Leads Essex Past Rebels 32-15

SOUTH BURLINGTON — Jordan Hines ran for four touchdowns and the Essex Hornets secured a home field berth in next week’s Division One Playoffs with a 32-15 win over the South Burlington Rebels on Friday night on Munson Field.

Hines scored on runs of eight, fifty-five, five and nineteen yards for the Hornets, who built a 26-7 halftime lead on route to their sixth win of the season.  Grady Corkum scored Essex’s other touchdown on an eight yard second quarter touchdown pass from quarterback Otis Crock.

South Burlington scored on a one yard second quarter run by Manny Boardman and a fifty-four yard third quarter pass from quarterback Kevin Papaariello to Paul O’Neil.

Both Hines and Boardman rolled up impressive yardage totals in the game, which was played in a steady misting rain.

Essex goes to the playoffs at 6-2. The Rebels will play a consolation round game next week. They are 0-8.
