College Football: Norwich Will Face Albright in First Round of NCAA Division III Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Norwich University football team will travel to Reading, Pa. to face host Albright College in the first round of the 2015 NCAA Division III Football Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 21 at the Gene L. Shirk Stadium. Game time will be 12:00 Noon.

The Cadets earned the automatic bid to the NCAA tournament after winning six straight Eastern Collegiate Football Conference games, including a 20-17 win over Husson University for the tiebreaker to win the league title. Norwich finished the regular season with a 6-4 overall mark and a 6-1 record in conference play and earned its third conference title in program history. This is the second time NU has appeared in the NCAA tournament under head coach Mark Murnyack, who is now in his fifth season.

Albright earned the Middle Atlantic Conference’s automatic qualifier after defeating Lebanon Valley 38-13 on Saturday in the Lions regular season finale. Albright finished the regular season with a 9-1 overall mark and an 8-1 record in conference play and earned its first conference title since the 2008 season.

This will mark the Lions first foray into the NCAA playoffs since the 2009 season and it also is the second time that Albright head coach John Marzka has led the Lions into the NCAA’s.

The first round will begin on Nov. 21 and the winner of this matchup will take on the winner of Mount Union College and St. Lawrence University in the second round, slated for Nov. 28.
