Essex Junction — The Essex Hornets and the CVU Redhawks battled through 50 minutes of scoreless action, settling for a 0-0 tie on Wednesday night in the Essex Rink.

Essex got three poweplay chances while CVU had a 43 second two man advantage powerplay over the end of the second and beginning of the third periods, but neither team was able to take advantage.

For the night the visitors outshot Essex 10-5 in the first period, 10-8 in the second and 5-4 in the third before both teams registered three shots in the five minute overtime session, all to no avail.

Erik Short registered 28 saves for the Hornets while Ty Parker put up 20 stops for CVU.

The Hornets are now 3-2-1 on the season. CVU is now 2-2-4.
