Girl’s Hoops: CVU Remains Unbeaten, Topping St. Johnsbury 51-41

HINESBURG — The CVU Redhawks remained unbeaten, running their record to 18-0 with a 51-41 win over the St. Johnsbury Academy Hilltoppers in a Division One showdown on Saturday afternoon inside the CVU Gym.

The Redhawks opened up a four point lead at 14-10 after the first quarter, and built it to ten before settling for a seven point margin at 26-19 at the break.

St. Johnsbury made a strong run in the third quarter, cutting the CVU lead to a single point, but CVU answered with a run of their own, ending the quarter up eight at 38-30.

The Redhawks held on in the fourth for the win.

Harper Mead banged home a trio of three pointers on the way to a team high 17 points for the winners.Catherine Gilwee added 11 points, all of them in the second half for CVU.

Sadie Stetson lead all scorers with 19 in the losing cause for St. Johnsbury.

With the win CVU improves to 18-0. St. Johnsbury slips to 16-2.
