High School Football: Tigers Pull Away in Second Half, Top SB 41-0

Middlebury — The two time defending state champion Middlebury Union High School Tigers built a 14-0 halftime lead, then pulled away in the second half, extending their winning streak to 27 straight games with a 41-0 win over the South Burlington High School Rebels on Friday night on Doc Collins Field.

Both teams moved the ball well in the first half, but it was Middlebury that found the end zone, scoring with 2:12 to play in the first quarter on an 18 yard pass from quarterback Oakley Gordon to wideout Chase Messner and with 6:41 left in the half on a six yard run by wingback Trey Kaufman. For their part South Burlington drove inside the Tigers 30 yard line three times on four first half possessions, but come away with no points.

After the Tigers scored on five yard Ali Abdul Satar five yard run on their first possession of the second half, South Burlington used a long Tom Demag to Colby Barrett pass play to again set themselves up at the Middlebury 20, but again they would fail to score.

Parker Gross added 15 and 18 yard scoring runs and Kyle Desabrais ran in from 4 yards out to complete the Middlebury scoring.

Now 5-0 on this season, Middlebury will play host to Essex next week. The 0-5 Rebels will host BFA-St. Albans.
