Will Fleming And Jim Rome

By Jack Healey
One of the many voices on the Boston Red Sox radio broadcasts this year is Will Fleming. Fleming is also the voice of the Triple A Pawtucket Red Sox and he is excellent. Fleming is also fluent in Spanish which comes in handy when interviewing players like Rafael Devers. Fleming will be subbing for Dave O’Brien on NESN for the two Red Sox games in Colorado. Check him out. He’s as good as anybody in major league baseball.
I heard a couple of innings of a Portland Sea Dogs game last week and Mike Antonellis, the voice of the Sox Double A affiliate, is also excellent.
I was listening to the morning show on a Portland radio station and they were talking about the Jim Rome Show which that station also aired every afternoon. They were talking about how they didn’t like his style and of course I agree. A caller also mentioned to them that he wasn’t a big fan either. It’s funny as I was listening to Jim Rome a couple of days later and he was bragging about how popular his show was in Portland, Maine.
Patriots color man Scott Zolak leaves a lot to be desired on the radio as he is constantly interrupting Bob Socci, the play by play guy, but Zolak is excellent on the TV pre- season games. He should stick to TV.
