Every team seems to have one opponent that they just can’t figure out, and for the Vermont men’s basketball team that opponent is Albany. The Danes beat Vermont yesterday at the Patrick Gym 69-57, and truth be told, the game wasn’t that close. Albany Coach Will Brown is not the most popular guy around Patrick, but give the man credit. He gets his players buy in, and it all starts with defense. Size, physicality … and a dedication to defense.
Vermont can play better than they did Saturday … they can certainly shoot the ball better … and they took on their arch-rivals without Dre Wills who continues to serve out his eight game suspension. But unless Vermont can find an extra level of strength and aggressiveness none of that may matter very much.
Getting Will Brown out of their heads wouldn’t hurt either.
