Jack Healey’s Blog November 22nd, 2017

In Ivy League football last Saturday Yale defeated Harvard 24-3 and won its first outright Ivy League title since 1980. Former MSJ standout Mike Muscatello was a starting defensive back on that Yale team. Mike starred on the great MSJ undefeated Division 1 state championship team in 1976 and caught a touchdown pass in Vermont’s victory in the 1977 Shrine Game. In Mike’s senior year at Yale they beat Dartmouth at Dartmouth in 1980. The MSJ -Rutland game was that night and Mike was at the game and Mike was also at the K of C that night to celebrate MSJ’s victory enroute to another undefeated season. The MSJ – Rutland game in 1980 was played on a Saturday night.

I was at both the Dartmouth-Yale and Harvard-Yale games that year and of course I was also at the MSJ-Rutland game.

Speaking of the Harvard-Yale game, my family and I were on the way to the Harvard-Yale game in 1963 in New Haven, Connecticut. The game was scheduled the next day and we left the day before so we weren’t in school. The date was November 22nd, 1963 and we stopped for lunch and a waitress told usĀ  that JFK had been shot. We listened to the rest of the horrible news on the radio as we continued our trip to New Haven. The game was postponed and would be played the following Saturday. I, like others of my generation will never forget it. I was 15 years old, I was a sophomore in high school.

It’s week #12 in high school football. I went 9-5 last week so my record is now 92-68:
