Women’s Hockey: Norwich battles Endicott to 2-2 stalemate

BEVERLY, MA. — The Norwich University women’s ice hockey team tied Endicott College 2-2 on Monday night at the Raymond J. Bourque Arena in non-conference action.

Junior Amanda Conway (Methuen, Mass.) scored her team-leading 18th goal of the season, while senior forward Jessica Piracini (Arlington, Mass.) scored her first goal of the season to lead the Cadets’ offense on the day. Sophomore Samantha Benoit (Bow, N.H.) notched two assists as well for Norwich.

Norwich (12-3-1) fell behind 1-0 in the first three minutes, but the Cadets rallied to score two straight goals and take a 2-1 lead late into the third period. However, Endicott scored the equalizer with 3:03 left in the game.

Endicott (8-3-4) took the lead on Madison Huber’s goal at the 2:16 mark of the first period with Mackenzie Mallett picking up the assist.

Conway scored at the 6:33 mark with Benoit picking up the assist. Piracini gave the Cadets a 2-1 lead at the 15:31 mark with Bryn Labbe (Calgary, Alberta) and Benoit notching assists.

Ashlie Jones scored on assists from Lauren Ferraiuolo and Courtney Sullivan to knot the game up late. Neither team was able to score in the overtime forcing the two teams to settle for a draw.

Sophomore goalie Emily Lambert (Riverview, Mich.) made 29 saves for Norwich in net.
