WEST HARTFORD, Ct. –– The UVM men’s soccer team scored twice in the first half and once more in the second half for a 3-0 conference victory at Hartford on Saturday afternoon. The Catamounts snapped the Hawks’ 11-game unbeaten streak. Vermont stands at 8-5-0 overall and 3-1-0 in league play.

COACH’S QUOTE
“Discipline and execution were the deciding factor in the match,” head coach Rob Dow said. “It was great to see our young guys stepping up and playing a big role in conference play. The boys are looking forward to a well-deserved week off.”

HOW IT HAPPENED
Joe Morrison broke a scoreless tie in the 20th minute. Adrian Gahabka sent a feed out wide for the sophomore who drove the go-ahead score inside of the far post from the top right corner of the box.
Evan Rouleau doubled the lead in the 43rd minute with his second goal of the year. Frosti Brynjólfsson dribbled along the goal line and dished a pass by two defenders, leaving Rouleau wide open in front of the net for the easy score.
Brynjólfsson added the third goal of the match in the 75th minute. Jon Arnar Barðdal had his shot blocked from 10 yards out but the ball bounced in front of the net and Brynjólfsson drove the rebound into the left side of the net.
GAME NOTES
Brynjólfsson finished the match with three points on one goal and one assist. He has recorded eight points (2 goals, 4 assists) in the last three games.
Runarsson made one save and moved into sole possession of fourth place on UVM’s all-time list with his 26th career win.
