SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — Senior goalie Tom Aubrun (Chamonix, France) stopped all 24 shots he faced to lead the Norwich University men’s ice hockey team to a 2-0 victory over Skidmore College on Saturday afternoon in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action.

Norwich (5-0-0, 4-0-0 NEHC) defended its No. 1 national ranking, defeating both Hobart and Skidmore, who came into the weekend without a loss in 2019-20.

Juniors Felix Brassard (St. Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec) and Ryan Boucher (Fitchburg, Mass.) each scored goals to lead the Cadets’ offense as they won their fifth straight game to open the season.

Boucher scored at the 10:17 mark of the second period with a rebound goal off his body off assists from Brassard and freshman defenseman Callum Jones (Burlington, Ontario).

Norwich capped the scoring with Brassard scoring on an empty net after Skidmore goalie Brandon Kassel got caught out heading to the bench for the extra skater. The goal was Brassard’s team-leading sixth goal of the season.

Norwich outshot Skidmore 42-24 in the game. The Cadets also earned their fourth team shutout in the first five games of the season.

The Cadets return home to Kreitzberg Arena on Friday, Nov. 22 when they host Babson at 7 p.m. and UMass Boston on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 4 p.m.
