NORTHFIELD — Sophomore Maxime Borduas (St. Cesaire, Quebec) scored twice while senior Tom Aubrun (Chamonix, France) stopped all 25 shots he faced to lead the Norwich University men’s ice hockey team to a 2-0 victory over Babson on Friday night in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) action at Kreitzberg Arena.

Norwich (6-0-0, 5-0-0 NEHC) won its sixth straight game to open the season and also posted its fifth shutout of the season as the top-ranked Cadets continued their best start to a season since 2015.

Borduas scored at the 11:06 mark of the first period with his second goal of the season, scoring on a rebound in the slot off assists from Noah Williams (Cortland, N.Y.) and Gabriel Chicoine (St. Dominique, Quebec). Borduas buried a rebound sitting in the slot, sniping a wrist off the inside of the right post and into the back of the net after Williams got a piece of the puck cutting across the top of the goal mouth.

Borduas capped the scoring at the 4:21 mark of the third period with his second of the game and third of the season, firing a shot into the right corner of the net off a pretty feed from behind the net by Williams after he received a pass from Taeron Lewis (Winnipeg, Manitoba).

Aubrun and the Norwich defense took care of the rest, holding the Beavers off the scoreboard and pick up their third straight win over the Beavers after beating them in the NEHC semifinals last season at Kreitzberg Arena.

Aubrun now has four shutouts on the season and improved to 6-0-0 on the year. Brad Arvanitis made 26 saves for Babson to fall to 0-2-0 on the season.

Norwich will host UMass Boston on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Kreitzberg Arena.
