Some random thoughts while waiting to see what seed the Catamounts get when the brackets come out later this afternoon ….
… Whomever the Catamounts get in the first round, could someone tell them that if they have a four point lead with two seconds to play to stay the heck away from the guy trying a three that can’t beat them even if he makes it? Please?
… Also was the out of bounds call on the baseline against Anthony Lamb the single most basically BAD call you have ever seen? Can you imagine if Vermont had lost that game?
… Hopefully he is not going anywhere, but if by chance Coach John Becker should move on after this season could the next Vermont coach be right in their back yard? UVM alum Jeff Brown has done a tremendous job at Middlebury. … just sayin’.
… Tough way to go out for Brown’s Panthers, bowing to their arch-rivals from Williams, but what a season … and what a career for Missisquoi grad Matt St. Amour.
… What a shocking ending for the Hockey Catamounts … not that they lost the series to BC, we all knew that could happen … but the way they did it … two blowouts? Where did that come from?
… A lot of Norwich fans were rooting for Oswego to lose in the NCAA D-3 hockey opening round last night. Well they got their wish but that may not be such good news. Now the Cadets get Hamilton … 20-4-4 and the NESCAC regular season champs … on Saturday in the quarterfinals. Norwich is going to have to play a whole lot better than they did last night against Salem State if they are going to get past the Continentals and book their trip to the D-3 Frozen Four.
… Congrats to Proctor, Williamstown and Enosburg for winning boy’s hoop championships yesterday in Barre. A special tip of the cap to Enosburg for proving themselves to the doubters and completing their undefeated season.
… With everything going on this weekend, believe it or not I actually found some time to watch/listen to some World Baseball Classic action and guess what? It is really really good baseball. Check it out … I highly recommend it!
