College Hoops: Middlebury Men and Women Both Earn NCAA Tournament Bids

MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury men’s basketball team will make its 10th trip in the last 12 years to the NCAA Tournament when it takes part in a regional this weekend hosted by Rowan. The Panthers (18-7) will play Nichols (25-2) in a first-round game on Friday, March 1, while the other matchup features the hosts from Rowan (21-6) against Emerson (16-11). The winners meet on Saturday night in an NCAA Regional Final contest.

First Round – Friday, March 1
Middlebury (18-7) vs. No. 14 Nichols (25-2) – 5:30 p.m.
Emerson (16-11) at Rowan (21-6) – 7:30 p.m.

Second Round – Saturday, March 2
Friday’s winners – 7:00 p.m.

Middlebury — For the first time in 21 years, the Middlebury women’s basketball team will take part in the NCAA Tournament. The Panthers (19-7) earned an at-large bid and will travel to DeSales University (Pa.) for a regional on March 1-2. Middlebury will take on John Carroll (22-6), while DeSales (25-2) will face Shenandoah (16-13) in the other matchup.
