Boy’s Hockey: Spaulding Avenges Early Season Defeat, Rolls Past CVU 6-2

SOUTH BURLINGTON — The top ranked Spaulding High Crimson Tide avenged an early season defeat, topping the CVU Redhawks 6-2 on Wednesday evening inside Cairns Arena.

The Tide, a 3-0 loser to CVU on the 4th of January, wasted little time on this night. Brad Romeo sent away Denver Heath just 25 seconds into the first period and Heath’s tally gave the visitors a lead they would never give up. Spaulding doubled their lead as Evan Parent buried a rebound powerplay goal as the clock expired for a 2-0 lead after one.

Heath was back again to start the second period, this time burying a Romeo assist just 19 seconds into the period. The Tide then built their lead to five as Tyler Murray and Parent scored a minute and thirty-seven seconds apart for a 5-0 advantage.

Joe Parento got CVU on the board with just over three minutes left in the second and Murray and CVU’s Mac Miller exchanged goals in the third to finish the scoring.

Heath ended the night with two goals and two assists and Romeo had three assists for the Tide. Spaulding goaltender Cody Gosselin recorded 13 saves to backstop the win. CVU goalies Ty Parker and Jake Kindestin combined for 25 saves as the Tide outshot the Redhawks 31-15.

With the win Spaulding improves to 11-2-2. CVU is 7-6-2.
