Did You Hear That Micah Parsons Got Traded?

Vermont Football Network and Gut Update #1

NFL Trade Talk: Micah and Jerry
Earlier this year I complained about ESPN’s Get Up being unable to stop talking about LeBron James and Luka Doncic every single day. Over the last two weeks, it feels like the only story has been the saga of Micah Parsons and Jerry Jones.
I’ll be honest — I could care less about either of them, on or off the field. Yes, Micah has been a phenomenal football player and has racked up an incredible sack total over the past four years. But at the end of the day, football is about teams. Teams win championships. Tom Brady didn’t win his rings alone, Vince Lombardi didn’t coach them alone, and the greats throughout history all needed the team around them.
Cowboys fans are losing their collective minds (not unusual), but this trade may actually be a smart one.
Green Bay gets Micah Parsons, spends a fortune, and hamstrings its salary cap for years.

Dallas gets two first-round picks and frees up cap space to sign maybe three players at $50 million each over four years, instead of tying it all up in one.

Read that again. Which makes more sense?
We won’t know for years who “won” the trade, but in the short term, Dallas looks smart. Parsons was reportedly becoming a headache in the locker room, while Green Bay gets a superstar looking for a fresh start. If this pays off, the Packers are instant contenders. But if it doesn’t, they’ve given away two future stars and their cap flexibility.
Meanwhile, Dallas wasn’t close to a Super Bowl run this year anyway. By dealing Parsons, they add draft capital, free up money, and buy time. And while I’m no Jerry Jones fan, the guy is a billionaire for a reason — he makes big decisions, and he has the resources to fix things if they go sideways.
EB’s Take: Dallas has already won this trade.

👉 If you know anyone interested in sponsoring our coverage, have them contact me or Matt Corda at eberry@nsnsports.net or mcorda@nsnsports.net.
I’m stoked. Calling football games is one of my favorite things in the world, and football ranks numero uno for me above all other sports.

Gut Update
The goal for August was to lose 15 pounds — and with two days left, I’ve hit it. ✅
That said, it hasn’t been easy. I dropped 22 pounds in 18 days but gained some back. The fair got me. Specifically, the United Methodist Church booth got me — those turkey dinners are dangerous! Sinful, even. The gravy is perfect. And as good as it is, gravy is not a diet food.
Still, goal met. Now it’s on to September: another 15 pounds down. Goal #2 is set.

Fall Vibes
Fall is my favorite time of year. Football — high school and the NFL. MLB stretch run and playoffs. Crisp weather. Hunting season in October. It’s busy, but it’s the best kind of busy.
