High School Hockey: BFA Sweeps Doubleheader From Essex

ESSEX JUNCTION — BFA-St. Albans swept a doubleheader from the Essex Hornets on Wednesday night at the Essex Rink. In game one the Comets women shutout Essex 4-0. Then in the nightcap the Bobwhites men scored three powerplay goals in a 3-2 win.

In the first game BFA’s Linsey Larrow scored single goals in the first and second periods as the Comets built a 2-0 lead. Then Chloe Rouleau and McKenna Remillard added third period markers to secure the win. Freshman Macie Boissonneault stopped 20 Essex shots to record the shutout win.

With the win the Comets improve to 6-0 on the season while Essex slips to 4-3.

In game two Essex jumped into the lead on a Jonah Janaro goal about four and a half minutes into the first period and made that lead stand up for the rest of the period. But the Bobwhites got powerplay goals from Mark Howrigan and Parker Gratton in the second to go up 2-1 after two. Ryan Young’s powerplay goal for Essex tied the game at 2-2, but BFA found the winner late on another powerplay as Jake Hall’s feed in front of the Essex cage deflected off a Hornets defender and into the net for the game winner with less than three minutes remaining.

With the win the Bobwhites are 5-0 on the season. Essex’s record slips to 3-2.
