High School Football Week #9. Quarter Final Action

By Jack Healey
I went 11-3 last week in high school picks and I now stand at 89-28 on the year.
It’s the quarter-finals:
In Division 1:
Rutland over Essex on NSN
St. Johnsbury over Colchester on NSN
Burr and Burton over Hartford
Middlebury over BFA of St. Albans on NSN

Burlington/South Burlington over CVU in the consolation game

In Division 2:
Brattleboro over North Country on NSN
Fair Haven over Mt. Anthony
U 32 over Spaulding
Bellows Falls over Lyndon on NSN

Milton over Mt. Abraham in the consolation game

In Division 3:
Poultney over Woodstock
BFA-Fairfax/Lamoille over Mill River
Springfield over Windsor
Otter Valley over Oxbow

I saw a newspaper account that said Otter Valley will ride the momentum from last week’s upset victory over BFA-Fairfax/Lamoille to a victory over Oxbow this week. I think Otter Valley wins, but come on man it has nothing to do with the game last week. None of them do. If they did then why bother playing the games? The whole concept of momentum from week to week or game to game is ridiculous! When will coaches, managers, sportswriters and sportscasters ever learn? When? As I have said a million times, I will stop talking about it, when they stop. Of course they never will because that’s what they do!
