Girls Hockey: Marauders Overcome Goaltending Masterpiece, Top Spaulding 2-0

NORTHFIELD — The Northfield Marauders over came a 54 save performance by Spaulding goaltender Amber McGinley and evened their record at 4-4-3 on the season with a 2-0 win over the Crimson Tide in Northfield Savings Bank Rivalry Series action on Thursday night inside Kreitzberg Arena.

McGinley was magnificent, recording 16 saves in the first period, 21 in the second, and 17 more in the third. But she was twice victimized by Northfield senior defenseman Julia Passalacqua.

Passalacqua fired a shot from the left point at the 8:58 mark of the first period. McGinley made the save but Reese Clayton put away the rebound for a 1-0 Northfield lead. The at the 2:22 mark of the third period it was Passalacqua again, this time burying a screened shot from the center point for a 2-0 advantage.

The loss drops Spaulding’s record on the season to 4-6.
