Boy’s Hockey: Spaulding Solves Kindestin, Tops Redhawks 4-1

SOUTH BURLINGTON — The Spaulding Crimson Tide overcame a 30 save performance by CVU goaltender Jacob Kindestin and beat the Redhawks 4-1 in Northfield Savings Bank Rivalry Series action on Wednesday night inside Cairns Arena.

CVU took a penalty right out of the gate and Spaulding’s Cam Gosselin made them pay, putting Parker Spaulding’s rebound behind Kindestin just 1:13 into the game. The Redhawks responded as senior defenseman Raf Ribeiro rifled home s shot from the right point at 7:19. But just 27 seconds later the Tide had the lead as defenseman Patrick Brock’s shot was deflected past Kindestin by a CVU defenseman and into his own net for a 2-1 advantage.

A second period goal by Parker Spaulding and Jackson Clayton’s snipe with less than two minutes remaining in the third finished the scoring.

Kindestin recorded seven saves in the first period, 10 in the second and 13 in the third in a losing cause. Spaulding goaltender Kyle May finished the night with 11 stops.

With the win the Tide improves to 12-5 on the season. CVU is now 7-11.
