Stalberg Named Hockey East Rookie of the Week

WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Vermont freshman Sebastian Stålberg (Gothenburg, Sweden) has been named the Hockey East Rookie of the Week. The Hockey East Association made the announcement today.

Stålberg had a goal and two assists in Friday's 4-1 win at Providence. He has nine points in the last 10 games. Stålberg is second on the team in scoring for rookies this season with 12 points (4g, 8a) in 23 contests. It marks the second time Stålberg has been named the league's rookie of the week this season. He was also named rookie of the week on Jan. 18.

Sophomore Rob Madore (Pittsburgh, Pa.) was named to the Hockey East Weekly Top Performer list. Madore stopped 51 of 53 shots (.962 save percentage) in a win and a tie against Providence on the weekend. He stopped 19 shots in Friday's 5-1 win and he made 16 of his 32 saves in the third period and overtime in Saturday's 1-1 tie against the Friars. Madore is 3-0-1 with a 1.00 goals against average and a .960 save percentage in his career against PC.

No. 17 Vermont (13-9-4, 7-8-4 HEA) hosts a two-game set against Merrimack (10-15-0, 7-11-0 HEA) at Gutterson Fieldhouse this Friday (Feb. 12) and Saturday (Feb. 13). Both games start at 7:05 p.m. On Friday free samples of products from Healthy Living will be available in the Gutterson lobby during the game. Honest Tea will be distributing bottled tea postgame from the front lobby. On Saturday free samples of products from Healthy Living will be available in the Gutterson Lobby during the game. AT&T will also be tabling in the lobby and showcasing its products.
