HANOVER, N.H. - The Vermont men's and women's indoor track and field teams took home nine first place finishes at the Dartmouth Indoor Classic on Saturday at Leverone Field House in Hanover, N.H.
Sophomore Marie Fourie (Waterloo, Ontario) won the women's 60m Hurdles with a time of 9.01 seconds. She is UVM's school record holder in the event. Fourie also earned a third place finish in the 200m with a time of 26.57.
Seniors Kailey Jasper (Whitby, Ontario) and Aly Millett (Half Moon Bay, Calif.) posted wins in the 500m and 1,000m, respectively. Jasper registered a time of 1:17.64, while Millett clocked in at 2:51.62, just a second off the school record in the 1,000m.
A trio of underclassmen placed 3-4-5 in the 1,000m behind Millett. Julie McGilpin (Westfield, Mass) finished third at 2:56.07. Marisa Guerette (West Chester, Pa.) was fourth at 2:59.68 and Morgan Powers (Cincinnati, Ohio) was fifth at 3:00.12. Freshman Debbie Isen (Bethesda, Md.) finished second in the 3,000m, posting a time of 10:28.36.
In the mile run, newcomer Bo Dunn (Harvard, Mass.) placed fourth with a time of 5:10.74 and freshman Kirsten Weberg (Rocky Mount, Va.) was fifth at 5:11.79.
The women also picked up a pair of relay victories. The Catamounts took first in the 4x800 race with a time of 9:22.15 and were also the top team in the 4x200 meters with a time of 1:45.09.
The Vermont men's team also picked up a victory in the 4x800 relay, posting a time of 7:59.49 and was the only team under the eight-minute mark.
Justin Scricca (Wethersfield, Conn.) continued his impressive indoor season with a time of 50.27 to pick up a victory in the 400m, an event in which he holds the UVM record.
Senior Doug Masiey (Gwynedd Vally, Pa.) earned a victory in the 800m with a time of 1:57.20 and Charlie Schaefer (Blue Bell, Pa.) added a win in the 1,000m, finishing with a time of 2:32.09.
Andrew Donaghy (Wallingford, Pa.) placed third in the 1,000m (2:34.24) and David Hanss (Ann Arbor, Mich.), UVM's record holder in the 500m, was second in the event with a mark of 1:06.99. Newcomer Connor Jennings (Concord, N.H.) added a second place finish for the Catamounts in the 3,000m, posting a time of 8:43.68.
The Catamounts continue to work towards the America East Championships, which are two weeks away. UVM travels to Boston, Mass. for the Valentine Invitational on Feb. 12-13 at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center. The events begin at 1 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. on Saturday.
