Girl’s Hoop: Falcons Run Streak to Ten, Topping Colchester 39-31

Colchester — Kylie Wright scored 21 points and the North Country Union High School Falcons blew open a close game with a 14-0 third quarter, topping the Colchester Lakers 39-31 on Monday night in the Lakers Gym.

Wright came out on fire, scoring seven points and Carly Giroux added four as the Falcons built a 15-6 lead after a quarter. They would built that lead to twelve at 18-6 before the Lakers came to life, putting together a 14-4 run to cut the margin to two before NCU hit the final hoop of the quarter for a four point lead, 24-20 at the break.

North Country would then put the game away with their fourteen unanswered points in the third. Nine of those points would come from Wright.
Colchester put together a run of its own in the fourth, outscoring the Falcons 11-1, but ran out of time.

Wright’s 21 led the Falcons, who also got nine from Giroux. Gabby Gosselin finished with 11 and Kelsey Cauchon had eight before fouling out for the Lakers.
North Country, which started the season with six straight losses, won its tenth straight to improve to 10-6. The Lakers had a four game win streak of their own snapped as they fell to 10-7.
