You hear it mentioned all the time ... "Tonight's Game is Pivotal Game ( ) in the Series". Fill in the blank as to which game. A pivotal game is a game which could swing the series one way or another. When a series is tied is the next game automatically pivotal? Is game three in a 1-1 series pivotal? How about game five in a 2-2 series? I'd say yes, but I'd also say that game three in a series where one team has a two games to none edge can be just as or even more pivotal. So tonight's Bruins/Rangers game at MSG defintely falls into the pivotal category. If the B's win they are up three-zip ... if the Rangers win they are still down 2-1 and facing perhaps another pivotal game in game four, but they have at least taken a major step in the right direction. Bottom line I think the Rangers win tonight ...

Meanwhile in will be very interesting to see how the Chicago Blackhawks react in game four later this week in Detroit. The Red Wings beat the Hawks last night to go up two games to one in that series and for the Hawks it marks one of the first times this season they have been behind in anything. After a dominating season how will Chicago react to playing from behind? It will be fun to see!

MSJ is a Division 4 baseball team and isn't having too bad of a year, but going iinto the game yesterday the Mounties stood at 8-4.
Otter Valley is a Division 2 baseball team and had a record of 11-0 going into yesterday's action.
Otter Valley wins easily right? No wrong, MSJ was leading 4-0 after scoring four times in the first inning and still led 4-3 going into the 7th. Otter Valley would tie the game at 4 in the top of the 7th, but MSJ got an RBI double from freshman Jonah Farrow in the last of the 7th to win it.
You never know do you?
You have to play the games.

Saturday my son and I went turkey hunting first thing in the morning. From there we went to the Miss Lyndonville Diner, and then played 9 holes of golf! After that we went for a four wheeler ride, mowed the lawn together, and had a cook out with family and friends that night. Sunday involved a little more work for all of us then we would have liked but it certainly was good to take a brief break!

Timely hitting, solid pitching. That’s been the magic elixir for Sox win streak. Hopefully Will Middlebrooks is slowly starting to climb out of the abyss he was in at the plate. Big Papi is back in a groove and Pedie is just being Pedie! For us Sox fans let’s hope their run continues in Chicago against the White Sox. And hopefully Jon Lester gets the Sox off to a good start!

Interesting that Phil Jackson finally has come out and basically said MJ is better than Kobe. Anybody who argued differently before or after that Kobe was better should have been put in a mental institution anyway. With the Big Zen saying Michael was a better leader, defender, and team player I think the argument is really a little ridiculous. And what of Kobe’s tweet saying something about MJ playing with Shaq? Really Kobe? Do you talk to your agent before you open you mouth or Twitter account? Someone please advise him.

The Spurs ho-hummed a victory over the Grizzlies. I was surprised by the ease of victory though. I still anticipate that series to go 6, and possibly 7.

The B’s looked really good yesterday. It was a great Sunday afternoon to be able to switch back and forth between their game and the Sox. Very relaxing, and certainly the outcome was satisfying. All those people who ragged on Tuuka Rask can sit down and shut up.

George Commo's Blog - Monday 5-20-13
Some scattered thoughts from this weekend ...
... Bruins are off to great start against the Rangers, but remember all they have done so far is defend home ice ... the next two games will be at MSG.
... I think all three of the other series in the NHL are going to be good ones ... but despite Ottawa's OT win last night I'm still feeling less than confident about my previous prediction that the Sens would actually beat the Penguins.
... Ding Dong the Knicks are dead ... but I think the Pacers will be too, and in short order against the Heat ... meanwhile yesterday San Antonio devastated Memhis in the first game of the Western final ... but again remember that was just one game.
... The Red Sox? I said it last week when they were losing three series in a row ... I'll say it again now that they have won five straight games ... you're never as good as you look when you win, and you're never as bad as you look when you lose. But I'll take the wins over the loses every time.
... Oh and did you know that Vermont high school baseball pitchers have a one day pitch limit? Rice High fans were reminded about it to their sorrow on Saturday. Rice #1 Will Conroy had it going in our NSN audiocast game against Mt. Mansfield. He struck out 16 men over eight and a third innings ... but all it go for him was a no decision as he left in a 1-1 tie and MMU then jumped the Green Knights bullpen for six runs in a 7-2 win.
... Personal note ... I was a proud Dad yesterday as youngest son Jack graduated from UVM ... a long but very satisfying day ... and Jazz-man Wynton Marsalis gave the best commencement address I have ever heard, and that was BEFORE he took out his horn and rocked the UVM Green with "When the Saints Go Marching In". A once in a lifetime moment!

Rain Just In Time!

I would've watched the Bruins-Rangers game yesterday anyway, but at least I didn't feel guilty not being outside on a beautiful day after it started to rain at opening face off time.

I don't mind Ranger's coach John Tortorella.I think he speaks his mind, but he has no patience with the media.
He's a lot like Bill Belichick that way.
Two main differences in my mind:
1. Tortorella seems to have more personality than Belichick.
2. Tortorella seems to be much more mean spirited than Belichick too.
