Got to admit ... not ashamed at all ... got choked up a couple of times during the 100th anniversary of Fenway ceremonies yesterday ... it was special!
Best moment ... had to be Terry Francona's return ... with the appearances of Pedro, Nomar and Bobby Doerr right up there.
The weirdest moment ... without question the appearance of Jose Canseco ... what was with the muscle pose? When you say you are inviting everybody I guess that is the chance you take.
My favorite long lost player siting ... a guy I brought up yesterday on The Really Big Sports Show ... 60's shortstop Eddie Bressoud.
I can't believe there were people complaining about holding a ceremony when the team is off to such a bad start. Come on folks ... you've got the next hundred years to worry about the rotation, the bullpen, and who Bobby Valentine is going to go off on next ... this was one afternoon to celebrate a ballpark and all who have played there.
Having said that ... Buchholtz's location was horrible and the offense anemic in yesterday's 6-2 loss to the Yankees ... Hey the next hundred years are now definitely underway!
If you had asked me which NHL team would be the first to be eliminated from the Stanley Cup Playoffs it would not have been the Detroit Red Wings ... but so it is ... Wings ousted in five games by the Nashville Predators. Going on a "feeling", I picked Detroit in seven ... even though I said at the time all the key factors pointed toward Nashville. Lesson learned ... go with facts .. .not just a feeling. It will be interesting to see if last night marked the final NHL appearance for the Wings' Nicholas Lidstrom ... quietly one of the top defensemen ever to play the game.
