I didn't see it on television, but I did hear it on the radio and the National Anthem before the Bruins game last night sent chills throughout my body from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet. It was unbelievable!
The Bruins didn't win the game, but did it really matter?

I took another trip to New London, New Hampshire yesterday as NSN video cast the Colby-Sawyer vs. Green Mountain College womens lacrosse game and I had an opportunity to listen to a sports talk show with good friend Bob Lipman and Bob Lobel. That was fun. You may ormay not know that Bob Lobel will be the PA announcer at Fenway Park on Saturdays this year.
He was practicing pronouncing some of the Kansas City Royals names on the air in preparation for the game this Saturday.

The new Sports illustrated is out and on the cover is a picture of three Boston policemen and a runner who had collapsed on the pavement after the bombing at the Boston Marathon.
The police officer on the left is Rachel Olanoff who is a Rutland native. She was a former lacrosse player at Rutland High, graduating in 2000 and went on to graduate from Boston University.

A classy gesture at Yankee Stadium as the fans sang "Sweet Caroline" in tribute to Boston after the tragic events at the Boston Marathon.
Appropriate that on a night that also honored Jackie Robinson,Robinson Cano who was named for Jackie Robinson hit what proved to be the game winning home-run and Mariano Rivera who is the only player in the majors who can still wear #42 picked up the save as the Yankees won the game 4-2. kind of neat.

One of the great sportscasters of all-time Pat Summerall passed away yesterday at the age of 82.
Yes I do remember him as a player with the New York Football Giants. He also played for the Chicago Cardinals, but I actually don't remember that.
Pat Summerall was a rare ex jock who actually became a great broadcaster in the classic sense.
I don't mean an ex jock in the broadcast booth who "played the game", but a person who actually worked at the craft of broadcasting and was a broadcaster, not an ex jock in the booth. There is a huge difference!
Pat Summerall also pretty much started on television as well and knew the medium to perfection.
Let the picture tell the story. Along with the late Ray Scott, Pat Summerall did that better than anybody.

Every once in awhile we are reminded that what we do here, talking and writing about who scored the most points or who got the most hits or who won the games is not really that important.
Today is one of those days.

I understand that Tiger Woods shouldn't have been disqualified, but explain to me again why he shouldn't have been penalized two strokes?
Won't repeat it here, but check out yesterday's front page headline in the New York Post. I'm talking front page headline, not sports page headline.
The New york Post is crap when it comes to journalism, but they sure have great headlines!

Let me point it out again about momentum or lack thereof.
Yale was outscored 8-0 in losing both the ECAC semi and the ECAC consolation game entering the NCAA Division 1 hockey tournament and ended up winning the whole thing. What momentum?
I know I said I would stop talking about it, but I can't help it. My correct argument on this whole momentum thing has a mind of its own. It's like a gift that just keeps on giving.

A #16 seed winning the National championship in hockey.
In basketball, a #16 seed has never even won a game!

I thought the Lakers would give anybody trouble if they made the playoffs, but without Kobe Bryant they aren't going anywhere.

Yale and Quinnipiac both winning in the NCAA Division 1 semi's last night in college hockey,
So it's All-ECAC Final including the school that replaced UVM in the league.
Two schools just 8 miles apart in Connecticutt. Geographically speaking it's like Duke vs. North Carolina, Duke vs. North Carolina State or North Carolina vs. North Carolina State meeting in the college basketball national championship game.

Alfredo Aceves looked pretty good last night I thought.

San Diego's Carlos Quentin was hit with a pitch by the Dodgers' Zack Geinke and you know the rest.
Whose fault was it? I don't know!
What do you think? Comment here.
