The headline in this morning's Burlington Free Press says it all ...

"Cataclysmic Upset"

Yup ... that pretty much sums it up. The University of Vermont men's basketball team had it all lined up. The Catamounts were riding a 10 game winning streak ... they had won the big games they needed to win ... BU on the road ... Stony Brook at home. They had set themselves up for an America East conference regular season title ... a potential conference tournament championship game at home ... the security blanket of an automatic bid to the NIT. All they had to do was take of business against winless Binghamton and 4-23 UMBC Well now the UMBC game probably won't matter.

Vermont will be getting lots of national publicity today ... but not the kind they are usually looking for. The Catamounts' 57-53 loss to the previously winless Bearcats is the shocker of the year in America East ... it may be one of the shockers of the year, period ... and it is an embarrassment that this team may have a hard time bouncing back from. Let every coach out there use this one as an object lesson ... you never look past anyone! You always come out ready to play! Every night! Against everybody! Or else ...
