Why do people do things like this? Paul Pierce had his moment last night ... he passed Larry Bird to move to number two on the Celtics all-time point list ... a momentous occasion that should be celebrated by all. Great .... but then enter Michael Felger.
The Comcast Sportsnet loud mouth was all over the Pierce moment last night ... yes he congratulated Pierce for the accomplishment ... but then he had to toss in this line ... " ... but Paul Pierce isn't any Larry Bird."
Come on Felger , why ... ? Frankly I have to agree with the sentiment at least a little bit ... I too question if Paul Pierce is as good a player ... or as big an icon as Larry Legend ... hey they didn't call him Larry Legend for nothing. But why say it on this night ...?
The point is Pierce has been a warrior ... he fought through some long seasons with some bad Celtics teams before finally reaping the rewards of "the Big Three" era. He never complained ... never demanded to be traded. He was ... and is ... a Celtic. Will he go down in the books as one of the greatest Celtics ever? You bet ... whether Pierce is as good as Bird is a point to be debated on another day.
Big college hockey game tonight ... the Norwich women travel to Plattsburgh to meet the Cardinals for the second time this season. The Cadets won the first meeting in overtime back in December.
