The Lyndon Institute Vikings nordic squad is a little short-staffed but sixth-year coach Chris Manges is hopefully his team holds their own in Division II.
The boys team finished eighth last year in Div. II and return some promising talent. Leading the boys group is senior Todd Laplant while Kristina Dege will be looked upon to finished well for the girls. “Todd Laplant and Kristina Dege had strong finishes last year and should lead the team again this season,” coach Manges said.
Coach Manges also hopes that strong cross country running seasons for Ayan Cole, Cassidy Newland, Sarah Hinkley and Meghan Mitchell will translate to strong ski seasons.
Four newcomers join the Vikings in Justin Chen, Bradley Li, Betty Ding and Dylan Peng.
“Time on snow is critical as well as giving adequate training time to both disciplines,” Manges added. “It is a long season so pacing and maintaining health is also key.
The nordic team gets started on Dec. 21 at Harwood.
