Bucks prepared for Div. IV run

The Blue Mountain Bucks return four starters and their roster of youth and inexperience from a year ago looks much improved entering the 2011/12 campaign.

BMU will feature a dynamic group of athletes and you can expect to see a number of different players stepping up. “Anyone can stand out on any given night,” coach Brian Alley said. A benefit that will give opposing defenses trouble.

As always, Div. IV is lining up to be competitive and coach Alley knows what it takes to have a team compete on a nightly basis. “If we can play solid team defense and take care of the ball on offense while playing together and making good decisions hopefully we can secure a home playoff game and after that anything is possible.”

The BMU roster features a trio of seniors, Dylan Gombas (forward), Keith Lord (guard) and Eddie Soucie (forward) who showed a times last season the ability to give defenses issues as an athletic big man. Joining the Bucks roster this year are junior forward Matt Whalen and sophomores Nick Gordon (center) and Phillip Gibson (guard).

The Bucks will play the season with heavy hearts, playing in memory of teammate Taylor Hill who tragically passed away in an automobile accident this fall.

BMU and coach Alley, in his sixth season at the helm, open the season on Tuesday when they travel to face a rival in the Div. IV runner-up Danville Indians.
