Olympians top Hazen

The Oxbow Olympians earned a hard-fought victory over Div. III foe Hazen Union, 2-0, in schoolgirl soccer action.

"It was a pretty big game," Oxbow coach Brian Musty said. The two teams battled to a 2-1 Oxbow victory earlier in the year in Bradford. "The team really rallied around each other."

Reilly Johnson got things started right away for Oxbow as she buried one in the back of the net just two minutes into the contest on a pass from Felicia Downing.

The 1-0 lead was increased with just under 12 minutes left in the first half when Willow Smith knocked home a direct kick to make it 2-0 in favor of the Olympians.

The two score lead was enough for the Olympians, who played very well defensively and Karley Hamilton turned away five shots to post the shutout victory.

"The defense did a great job," coach Musty said.

Renee Hall made two saves for the Wildcats, who fall to 10-3 with the loss.

Oxbow improves to 12-1.
