The Lyndon Institute Vikings girls soccer team fell behind 2-1 in the first half of play but scored a late goal to earn a 2-2 tie with Northfield.
The Vikings got on the board with a first half goal from Keara Kresser, on an assist from Makayla Lyndes. The Vikings peppered the Marauders early but seemed to fall asleep late in the opening half, according to coach Frank Leafe, which allowed Northfield's Kristen Dukette to find the back of the net twice and give Northfield a 2-1 lead at intermission.
Lyndes, however, answered the call with 15 minutes to play in regulation, netting the tying goal on an assist from Taryn Colby. But, despite out-shooting Northfield, the Vikings would have to settle for the tie.
"We pressured them hard early," Leafe said. "We just couldn't finish it off."
Mehgan McMullen was called on to make 20 saves in net for the Marauders while Riley Blankenship made seven stops in net for LI, who is now 1-10-2 on the season.
Lyndon finishes the 2011 regular season campaign with senior night on Wednesday when they host U32 at the LTS Fields.
