Burlington High School took game two-of-two over St. Johnsbury Tuesday night, routing the Hilltoppers 59-22. The Seahorses had taken the teams’ first meeting 48-36.
Up 24-13 at halftime, the Seahorses eventually outscored host St. Johnsbury 35-9 in the second half to run away on the scoreboard.
Nine different scorers got in the book for the visitors, with Curtis Rodgers leading the way on a game high 11 points. Connor O’Shea added 10 and Bodel Zabili chipped in nine.
St. Johnsbury struggled down low, getting to the line just twice in the ballgame while losing the rebound battle 30-19. Burlington shot very well from the line, sinking 12-15 free throws. The ‘Toppers turned the ball over 19 times.
Matt Lyon led the home team with six points and teammate Ricardo Miranda scored five.
The 12-7 Seahorses, currently ninth in D-I, will look to finish up the regular season on Friday at home versus CVU.
St. Johnsbury (3-15) has two remaining games on the schedule, starting with a make up bout with North Country at home on Wednesday.
