Huge second half pushes DHS past Fairfax

The Danville Indians put up 40 second half points to to overcome a slow first half and knock off BFA-Fairfax, 50-43.

With two starters (Tony Burrington and Jacob Mills) spending the second quarter on the bench in foul trouble, the DHS offense struggled to get going and a pair of buckets by sophomore Brett Elliott were the only points the Indians managed in the second frame.

Trailing 22-10 at halftime the Indians needed something special in the second half to claw back against the Div. III Bullets. Something special is exactly what they got. Burrington exploded for 11 in the third quarter and Mills poured in eight. Burrington, however, was just getting started as he continued his domination in the fourth with nine more points. With his trifecta in the opening frame, Burrington finished with a game-high 23 points. He was 7-for-8 from the free throw line.

Kyle Johnson got in on the fun for the boys from Danville in the fourth as well as he scored all eight of his points in the Indians 21 point fourth quarter. Mills finished with 10 points on the night.

Fairfax's Kris Wehner dropped 16 points for the Bullets in the losing effort.
